Word used to have a drawing toolbar at the bottom, but it seems to have disappeared and I dont know how to get it back.

On the Word menu bar click on:
  View -> Toolbars -> Drawing

This should restore your drawing toolbar at the bottom of the Word window. This setting toggles, so if the toolbar is visible and you click View -> Toolbars -> Drawing it will disappear. If it's not visible then clicking View -> Toolbars -> Drawing will make it re-appear.
