Help!!
My daughter was using the family laptop and in a fit of frustration banged both hands down onthe keyboard.

The screen is now upside down and I've no idea how to get it back the right way up.

This sounds like a 'hot key' problem that applies to  Acer and Dell (and possibly other makes) laptops. Try the key sequence :
Ctrl - Alt - Up Arrow
To do this hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys and press Up Arrow. Your screen should return to the correct way up.

If not let us know which make and model of laptop you are using so we can investigate further.

For further information these hot-key sequences also change screen orientation on the above laptops:
Ctrl - Alt - Left Arrow      --- Rotates screen 270 degrees
Ctrl - Alt - Down Arrow   --- Rotates scree 180 degrees
Ctrl - Alt - Right Arrow   --- Rotates screen 90[degrees
